In this crazy world, there's an enormous distinction between good times and bad, between sorrow and joy. But in the eyes of God, they're never separated. Where there is pain, there is healing. Where there is mourning, there is dancing. Where there is poverty, there is the kingdom.

As a relational therapist, I believe in the power of connection to heal. I help clients explore their relationships, past and present, as they seek to build a better future. You will find my office a safe place to heal, grow and try out new ways of relating. We will talk about history and goals, but spend much of our time in the “present tense” – delving into your experience in the here and now. This real time orientation is very different from everyday life, and can even seem scary. Beginning therapy takes courage, but it is a profound opportunity for personal growth. As your therapist, I’ll make sure you have everything you need for the journey.

My clinical orientation is eclectic. I always work from a relational standpoint, but draw from different theories as appropriate. I strive to be guided most by your needs, not whatever well-worn paradigm I feel most comfortable with. Some theories that have shaped my worldview are:

* Phenomenology: I meet you where you are. I avoid assumptions and respect your way of seeing things.
* Existentialism: I’ve found that many of our relational problems stem from the bigger themes – how we deal with meaning, isolation, freedom and death.
* Systems: I help clients reflect on the roles they play (especially in the family you grew up with) and how they are related to patterns, both healthy and unhealthy.
* Biopsychosocial: I recognize that psychology cannot be separated from biology or society. I am a holistic therapist.
* Christianity: I believe in a paradoxical story of redemption, where utter brokenness meets total acceptance. I am a realist and, yet, hopeful.

If you think that therapy may be of help to you, please give me a call or send me an email.
